As an Assistant Store Manager, you will support the Store Manager in driving retail sales while delivering 5‑Star Customer Service. You will help lead, coach, and develop the team to ensure they perform at their best and consistently deliver The Estée Lauder Companies Experience to every customer.

A large part of your role will be working on the shop floor—providing exceptional service, supporting staff, and ensuring smooth daily operations. You will act as a role model, stepping into leadership responsibilities in the Store Manager’s absence.

Position Overview

Title: Assistant Store Manager, The Company Store
Location: Ellerslie, Auckland (B&M store and online store)
Reports to: Store Manager
Direct Reports: Supports Store Manager with supervision of Sales Assistants (2–3 staff)


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Service Support

  • Support the Store Manager in delivering exceptional customer service and promptly resolving customer complaints.
  • Help communicate and monitor sales targets and motivate the team to achieve results.
  • Assist with training staff on POS, stock processes, and customer experience standards.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and assist with identifying sales opportunities.
  • Complete daily paperwork and reporting as delegated by the Store Manager.

Team Leadership

  • Lead with positivity and professionalism, acting as a role model for team members.
  • Support adherence to company policies, procedures, and grooming guidelines.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and support coaching and development initiatives.
  • Maintain clear communication with the team and escalate performance issues where necessary.

Stock Management & Store Presentation

  • Support team training on stock handling, merchandising standards, and hygiene requirements.
  • Ensure store presentation, displays, and pricing meet company guidelines.
  • Assist in monitoring slow‑moving stock and recommending promotional ideas.
  • Support online store stock‑on‑hand accuracy and assist with customer email inbox management.
  • Participate in stock takes and help maintain high stock accuracy.
  • Assist with Monthly Return to Warehouse processes.

Website & Online Store Support

  • Work with the online manager and Store Manager to maintain accurate product listings, pricing, and promotions.
  • Assist with fulfilling online orders promptly and accurately.
  • Manage customer email inbox communications when delegated.
  • Support alignment of online campaigns with in‑store activities in collaboration with the Corporate Store Executive.

Operational Support

  • Assist with preparing rosters within budget and submitting for approval when delegated.
  • Support daily cash handling and compliance with finance procedures.
  • Follow charitable donation procedures.
  • Support absence management processes according to policy.
