Description

The primary purpose of this Research Salon Technician is to perform services using clinical protocols to support testing of retail and professional products on hair to aid in formula development, training and usage guidelines, process development, safety, and claims substantiation with a focus on Hair Color application, formulation and evaluation.

Perform testing activities as outlined; shampooing, conditioning treatments, hair styling, professional services (hair color, texture, treatments, etc.).  Ability to execute with precision and speed.

 

Complete all testing profiles, applications, evaluations and service records clearly and accurately following good documentation practices.

 

Maintain the cleanliness of assigned work area and overall cleanliness of the salon following the Minnesota Cosmetology State Board Laws and Rules.

 

Maintain awareness of panelist issues (i.e. product adverse reactions, questionable compliance, etc.) and escalate issue to Salon Manager/Study Investigator and other relevant parties if applicable to ensure proper testing results. 

 

Perform non-study activities assigned that support study activities; preparing patch tests, paperwork packets, inventory tasks, and salon/room preparation

 

Participate in the improvement and development of testing methods for evaluating hair and are integral in the development of new product launches and/or reformulations.

 

Participate in activities with partners; hair care, marketing, hair color, education and artists to support development, usage guidelines, training and education techniques.

 

Maintain a professional atmosphere.

 

Respond to requests from management as necessary.

 

Qualifications

Proficient technical skills and experience performing professional hair services.

Proficient application and experience of hair color formulation is required, previous experience with Aveda Hair Color is a plus.

Basic understanding of hair color theory and ability to assess natural starting level and tone.

Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time to perform professional services in a salon.

Excellent customer communication skills.

Ability to use a computer or tablet and working in programs such Microsoft Edge, Outlook, and Forms.

Associate degree, experience in lieu of degree, Cosmetologist Operator License; Salon Manger License preferred

The Research Salon Technician reports to the Research Salon Manager

The position reports on-site 5 days a week.

 

Pay Range:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $21.00  to $26.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.
