Accounting Manager, Spain (12-month contract)

Position Summary:

The accounting manager will be responsible for monthly closing reports and the closing process and providing timely and accurate reporting in accordance with both local regulations and US GAAP requirements. This position is also responsible for ensuring that bookkeeping is in accordance with local regulations and Corporate Policies and Procedures, as well as responsible of country Quarterly Balance review with EMEA Business Control.

You will lead the company’s accounting and financial activities, including the preparation of financial statements and budgets, while ensuring regulatory compliance. Success in the role is reflected in the accuracy of financial reporting, the efficiency of accounting processes, and effective team management. The position is key to strategic decision-making, providing senior management with clear and detailed financial analysis. In addition, the role supports the company’s sustainable growth by optimizing financial policies and systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Liaise and implement the hybrid outsourced model of F&A accounting  
• Work closely with other areas of the company, including Finance, Operations, and Project Management, to provide clear and strategic financial analysis.
• Lead and oversee all accounting and financial activities of the company, including the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with local and international tax, regulatory, and financial requirements, as well as the accurate preparation and submission of accounting reports.
• Develop and lead the internal and external audit processes, working closely with auditors to ensure the transparency and accuracy of financial statements.
• Manage the accounting team, providing direction and mentoring, while optimizing processes and systems to improve operational efficiency.
• Implement and maintain internal accounting policies that ensure appropriate financial controls and minimize risks.
• Advise senior management on strategic decision-making through detailed financial reporting, profitability analysis, and forecasting.
• Evaluate and manage relationships with external financial and accounting service providers.
• Actively participate in the definition and execution of financial plans that support the company’s ongoing expansion and growth.

What are we looking for in you:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting leadership positions, preferably within the Retail or FMCG sector.
• Experience managing teams and optimizing accounting processes.
• Strong financial analysis, planning.
• Business Acumen: applying an understanding of the business and industry standards and how own area integrates with others to achieve unit objectives; monitoring business trends and market developments in own field.
• Identifying and resolving functional, technical, operational and organizational problems, providing procedures and solutions. 
• Proficiency knowledge of SAP, Hyperion and Tableau are required and mandatory
• Fluent in English (written and spoken is a must).
• Ability to work under pressure and make strategic decisions that support the company’s growth.
• Proactive, results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
