EHS Manager, Safety & Sustainability Programs

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing and delivering key EHS engagement programs that leverage and drive engagement, promote inclusion, ownership, and overall support for delivering safety and sustainability workplans.

 

Working closely with the EHS Director and other stakeholders, the individual will create and deliver tactical and strategic initiatives informed by our EHS strategy, data trends, observations and an overall desire to ensure we are proactively elevating actions to improve safety and sustainability protection for everyone, everywhere, every day. Key focus areas will include;

 

  • EHS behavioral safety and sustainability programs
  • EHS communications
  • Safety and sustainability recognition programs
  • Development and delivery of safety and sustainability campaigns and programs
  • Supporting activities that elevate engagement across the EHS Department
  • Exploring and developing new and innovative ways to increase EHS engagement across the organization
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, maintain and continue to elevate behavioral safety and sustainability programs. Activities will include maintaining a global framework, enabling effective site level delivery and support for site teams, maintaining and developing new program tools, regular communications and progress reporting. The overall aim is to maintain an integrated, inclusive and technology enabled program which elevates ownership and opportunities for individuals to actively contribute to safety and sustainability goals.
  • Working in partnership with Global Communications and other stakeholders, maintain an active and integrated EHS Communications program which increases awareness and celebrates progress being made across the organization on safety and sustainability. Key moments will include Safety Month, Earth Month and selected observances which align to fiscal workplans. Ensure online resources including MyELC, SharePoint are maintained and communications aligned to Global Communications requirements, including translations, I,D&E, data privacy
  • Ability to leverage existing EHS regulatory and operational knowledge to deliver tactical and strategic EHS programs, e.g. injury prevention programs
  • Evolving existing and developing new and inclusive safety and sustainability recognition programs which integrate with existing programs, enables recognition for everyday contributions, celebrates progress and milestone attainment. Existing programs include Safety Ambassador, Safety Gem & Safety Crown Awards, EHS Safety Awards and external recognition
  • Working in partnership with the EHS Engagement Committee, EHS Leadership Team support the development and implementation of activities and resources which elevate togetherness, belonging and collaboration across the EHS Department, as One Team. Activities will include team building, meetings/virtual workshops, recognition, enhancing online platforms (Nexus, Teams, SharePoint)

  • Lead on, and work in partnership with GCCS and other key stakeholders, to elevate sustainability engagement through the following activities: formalizing sustainability support across Value Chain locations, maintaining active communication and engagement with individuals and teams, publicizing activities and progress, and recognizing contributions of individuals and teams
  • Experienced in project management, with the ability to lead individual contributors, develop and deliver project schedules and budgets, track metrics, and assemble project information into documented reports to clearly articulate findings, recommendations, and communicate progress. 
  • Support, and provide content for performance and incident communications including Leading Indicator Reports, Safety Alerts, Potential Serious Injury Reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to partner with stakeholders at various levels and functions across our global enterprise. 
  • Maintain awareness of communication and engagement best practices and develop opportunities to integrate these into existing and future EHS engagement related activities.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a EHS operational role, with experience of leveraging communications, marketing or employee engagement activities to improve performance.
  • Experience of developing and delivering, either as the lead or collaboratively, employee engagement and communication programs, with experience gained in all or several stages of the program journey from ideation, planning, stakeholder consultation and management, creative solution development, delivery and performance analytics.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Forms, Excel), AI tools, Smartsheet or similar online tools
  • Strong organizational, presentation, project management and analysis skills. Able to use insights to make informed decisions to progress workplans

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $135,600. The exact salary depends on several factors, including experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program, with the possibility of overachievement based on performance and company results.
