PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Creative Director
The Manager, Copy is responsible for bringing the Too Faced voice to life across product, packaging, campaign, digital, social, retailer and brand storytelling. Working directly with the Vice President, Creative Director, this role develops distinctive, witty and culturally relevant copy that is unmistakably Too Faced while clearly communicating product benefits and supporting business objectives.
The ideal candidate is both a strong conceptual writer and a versatile brand copywriter who can move fluidly between naming a new product, developing campaign language, writing packaging copy, creating social-first messaging and supporting retailer and brand presentations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop copy across product launches, packaging, campaigns, digital, social, e-commerce, retailer materials and other global brand touchpoints.
- Partner directly with the Vice President, Creative Director to establish and evolve the Too Faced tone of voice across consumer-facing communication.
- Develop product names, shade names, collection names, campaign lines, headlines, taglines and other brand language.
- Write compelling packaging copy that brings product stories, benefits and brand personality to life clearly and memorably.
- Develop campaign messaging and copy concepts that work in partnership with the overarching creative idea and visual direction.
- Translate product positioning, claims and marketing strategy into concise, engaging and consumer-friendly language.
- Create copy for global brand decks, launch presentations, retailer sell-in materials and other key storytelling tools.
- Adapt global messaging across digital, social, e-commerce and retailer environments while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
- Understand the language, behaviors and creative conventions of key social platforms and write copy that feels native to each channel.
- Partner closely with the Director, 360 Creative, Director, Design, Senior Art Director, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Product Development, Social, E-commerce and Regional teams.
- Develop clear copy guidelines and messaging frameworks that enable regions, retailers and external partners to maintain the Too Faced voice.
- Review regional and external copy adaptations to ensure consistency with global messaging and brand tone.
- Work within product claims, legal and regulatory requirements while maintaining creativity, clarity and personality.
- Use generative AI and emerging creative technologies thoughtfully to support ideation, language exploration, research and workflow efficiency while maintaining originality and a distinctive human voice.
- Manage multiple projects and shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy, consistency and a high standard of creative writing.
- Stay deeply connected to beauty, fashion, entertainment, internet culture, social media and pop culture to keep the Too Faced voice current and culturally relevant.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of copywriting or brand writing experience, preferably within beauty, fashion, lifestyle, entertainment or other consumer-facing brands.
- BA or BFA in Advertising, Communications, English, Journalism, Creative Writing or related field.
- Exceptional conceptual and writing ability with demonstrated experience developing distinctive brand voice and consumer-facing storytelling.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating product naming, packaging copy, campaign concepts, digital and social copy, and broader brand storytelling.
- Ability to write with wit, personality and cultural relevance while communicating product benefits clearly and accurately.
- Demonstrated experience writing across a wide range of formats, from short-form headlines and social copy to product stories, presentations and longer-form brand language.
- Strong understanding of beauty consumers, product storytelling and the role language plays across packaging, campaign, retail and digital experiences.
- Strong knowledge of major social platforms and an understanding of platform-specific language, trends and consumer behavior.
- Ability to take creative direction, generate multiple strong creative routes and refine language quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent editing, proofreading and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with visual creative teams and cross-functional partners.
- Proficiency in Figma and comfort working within collaborative creative and design workflows.
- Demonstrated proficiency with generative AI tools and emerging creative technologies, with the ability to use AI thoughtfully for ideation and workflow support without compromising originality or brand voice.
- Strong awareness of beauty, fashion, pop culture, social media and emerging cultural trends.
- Portfolio required. Candidates must provide relevant work samples demonstrating product naming, packaging copy, campaign language, digital and social copy, and distinctive brand voice across multiple consumer touchpoints.
Pay Range:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $87,550.00 to $143,800.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
